On September 15th 1989, two SR 660 ATM vending machines (also called FE 1410), from the Swiss company Frama, were installed, in a pilot scheme, in the hall of the main post office of Madrid.

The new ATM issue was authorized and launched through notifications that appeared in the Boletin Oficial de Correos issue 26 (the Correos official bulletin) of April 4th 1989 and later in issue 80 dated September 12th, 1989. In these bulletins, Correos advised of the installation of the new vending machines and the characteristics of the stamps issued.

The machines worked with coins of 1, 5, 25 and 50 pts, and issued variable value stamps (ATMs) of any face value between 1 and 99 pts, in steps of 1 pta.

The printing of the ATMs was mechanical, using lilac-red ink, on the rolls of paper, through a cliché or printing matrix. This matrix had a fixed design with a rectangular frame of 31.80 x 23.80 mm, the words ESPAÑA and CORREOS, 2 postal emblems at the bottom left and right corners, and a central area which had 4 wheels of digits for the printing of the face value.

Characteristically, the Frama ATM vending machines did not return the change in coins, but in stamps, and they did not issue any type of receipt for the operation.

The pilot trial with the 2 Frama vending machines ended on January 15th 1990, although one of the machines was put into service again in the same location from February 27th, whilst the second one was installed at the Barcelona main post office, from April 18th 1990
Both machines continued working discontinuously until 1996.
