During
1998, 1999 and 2000 the Spanish Philatelic Service issued three series
to promote the horses of La Cartuja-Hierro del
Bocado herd. They come from the
autochthonous breed which existed in Jerez de la Frontera at the end of
the 15th century. The Carthusian monks reared and cared for them for three
centuries, becoming one of the most famous and valuable herd of horses
of the world. The three series are comprised of a 12 stamp sheetlet with
horses as its main theme. |
