The
city of Almansa, in Albacete ( Castilla
- La Mancha ) celebrate his Fiestas Mayores ( Main festivals
) from the May 1 to the 6, in honour of its patron María
Santísima de Belén. The program of acts culminates
the May 6, festivity of the Belen's Virgin with the Greater Procession.
The year 2000, with the commemoration
of the 75 Anniversary of the Belen Virgin Pontifical
Coronation, there is programmed numerous acts that were developed
from the January, 23 up to the September, 17, and between that we can emphasize
the visits of the Virgin to the different Parishes, Chapels and Sanctuaries
of the city.
The Sanctuary of Nuestra
Señora de Belén is located few kilometres from
Almansa. It's a simple baroque hermitage from 17th century, with a rectangular
plant and a magnificent altarpiece of 18th century. The image is in a chamber
of the same period, with cupola and interesting mural paintings. |
