Founded
on July 1989, Hispasat, S.A. it's the society dedicated to the management
of the satellites of the Spanish system of telecommunications.
In September 1992 the
first satellite of the system Hispasat, the 1A, was launched. Just a short
time later, in July 1993 the second satellite, Hispasat 1B was put in orbit.
From their respective
launchings, both satellites have helped to elevate the level of connection
between Europe and America, offering diffusion of TV, telephone lines and
services to the Spanish Army. |
With
the increasing demand of all these services, during year 1997 they arrived
at his operative limit. In addition, the recent liberalization of the digital
television and the increasing demand of connection derived from the technologies
of networks, do that the sector of the digital telecommunication is in
explosion. That's why in 1997 the project of the third satellite of the
system, the Hispasat 1C began.
The launching was the
February 3rd., 2000, supposing a considerable increase of the capacity
of digital connection between Spain, Latin-America and Europe. |

The
present composition of the Hispasat system is :
Three satellites in orbit,
all of them located in the orbital position of 30º the west, a Control
center of Satellites, and a Control center of the Satellites Capacity of
Telecommunications.
At same time studies of
design for the second generation of satellites are being made that will
guarantee the continuity of the system, simultaneously that working in
the construction of a fourth satellite, the Hispasat 1D, whose launching
is expected for year 2002. |
