Terra
Mítica, the
greater Thematic Park of Europe, is located in Benidorm,
Alicante. It was inaugurated the July 27, 2000 by his Majesty the Spanish
Prince Felipe de Borbón and opened to the public the 31 of
the same month.
The
Park proposes a fascinating route through its five thematic areas, the
oldest and legendary civilizations of the Mediterranean sea ; Egypt,
Greece, Rome, Iberia and the
Islands.
In
the Park around thirty "route" and "mechanical" attractions can be found
; between these last ones they emphasize the greater wood roller coaster
of Europe, the " Magnus Colossus
", with 50 meters of height and a maximum speed of 100 km/h. and one spectacular
free fall from a column of more than 60 meters of height called " the
flight of the Fénix ".
But,
without a doubt, the differentiating character of Terra
Mítica is the concept of its
five "route" attractions, a new interactive product in Spain and practically
unknown in Europe, that it uses special effects to transport the public
to last civilizations and to become -for a few hours- in Roman Senator,
Greek marine, visitor in an Egyptian tomb, crossed horseman, ...
